Privacy Policy

The PickHue browser extension does not collect, sell, rent, or transmit your personal data. It requires no signup, has no accounts, and will remain free forever. Settings and recent colors stay on your device.

The extension

PickHue the extension does not include analytics, ads, or third-party trackers. It does not send usage data, browsed page content, or color picks to any server. There is nothing to sign up for, and using PickHue never requires an account or payment.

What is stored on your device

PickHue may store the following locally in your browser using Chrome’s chrome.storage.sync API:

  • Your theme preference (system, light, or dark)
  • Your preferred color format (HEX, RGB, or HSL)
  • Your recent color picks

This data stays on your device and may sync across your Chrome profile if you have Chrome Sync enabled. The extension has no backend of its own and cannot access this data.

What PickHue accesses when you use it

When you click the PickHue icon or activate the eyedropper, the extension may:

  • Inject a small UI panel into the current webpage
  • Capture a screenshot of the visible tab to sample pixel colors accurately

Screenshots are processed entirely on your device to power the magnifier. They are not uploaded, stored remotely, or shared.

Permissions

PickHue requests broad host access so the eyedropper can run on the pages you choose to pick colors from. The extension only acts when you invoke it from the toolbar.

This website

The PickHue marketing site at pickhue.site is hosted on Vercel. This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand basic aggregated traffic like page views, referrals, and general device or location stats. Vercel’s analytics are designed to be privacy-friendly: they do not use cookies or cross-site tracking, and they report anonymized, aggregated statistics rather than individual profiles. This applies only to visits to the website. It is separate from the browser extension, which still does not collect or use analytics data.

Optional donations on this site are processed by Stripe. If you choose to donate, Stripe handles the payment details according to its own privacy policy. Visiting the site or using the extension never requires a donation or signup.
